Mihaela Cotruta
Founder & Director | ReStart Mobility CIC
I founded ReStart Mobility because I believe that access to essential mobility equipment should never depend on a person's ability to pay.
For 19 years, I have dedicated my career to supporting people with physical disabilities, complex care needs and life-changing conditions.
Throughout those years, I have witnessed how the right mobility equipment can restore independence, reduce isolation and give people the confidence to live with dignity.
These experiences inspired me to establish ReStart Mobility CIC, a UK Community Interest Company committed to collecting, purchasing, refurbishing and delivering essential mobility equipment to those who need it most.
Our mission goes beyond providing equipment. We are building a sustainable social enterprise that reinvests every surplus into helping people with disabilities across the United Kingdom and Romania.

Looking for somewhere to donate a wheelchair, mobility scooter, hoist or other mobility equipment in the UK? Here are answers to the questions donors ask us most often.
Where can I donate a mobility scooter in the UK?
ReStart Mobility CIC welcomes offers of mobility scooters and other mobility equipment. Collection may be possible depending on the item's location, size and our current transport availability. Send us your postcode, a photo and any details you have about the scooter.
Can I donate an electric or manual wheelchair?
Yes. We welcome electric wheelchairs, powerchairs and manual wheelchairs. If it is powered, please tell us whether the battery and charger are included and whether there are any known problems.
Do you collect donated mobility equipment?
We can arrange collection in many cases, depending on location, equipment type and transport availability. Contact us with the collection postcode and basic details and we will let you know what we can arrange.
What mobility and care equipment can I donate?
We welcome offers including mobility scooters, electric and manual wheelchairs, patient hoists, medical beds, rollators, walking frames, commode chairs, ramps and other useful mobility or care equipment.
Does the equipment need to be in perfect condition?
Not necessarily. Please tell us honestly about its condition, battery, charger, known faults or missing parts. We can then assess whether it can be safely checked, prepared, repaired or reused.
What happens to equipment donated to ReStart Mobility?
Suitable equipment is assessed, cleaned, checked and prepared for responsible reuse. Our aim is to keep valuable equipment in use and support people who need mobility equipment in the UK and Romania.
